Hospitals Earn Top Quality Ratings
Providence-St. Joseph Hospital has been top-rated by two national evaluations.
The Eureka hospital and Redwood Memorial in Fortuna both earned four-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), placing them among the top 37% of CMS-rated hospitals nationwide for overall quality.
“This recognition reflects the dedication of our caregivers, physicians and medical staff who work every day to provide safe, compassionate, high-quality care to our community,” said Sarah Park, chief nursing officer, Providence Humboldt.
In a separate ranking, Forbes magazine’s annual rating of top U.S. hospitals placed Providence-St. Joseph on its five-star list. Nationwide, 259 hospitals are included on the list.
“For hospital leaders, assessing healthcare protocols and measuring their impact on patient care can provide critical insights into what a hospital is doing well, and which areas may need to be strengthened,” Forbes editors said. “For patients, these metrics can make it easier to figure out which hospitals may serve them best.”
Forbes rated hospitals in four categories: patient outcomes (weighted at 55%), hospital best practices (20%), value (15%) and patient experience (10%).
Michael Keleman, chief executive of Providence Humboldt, was gratified by the acknowledgement. “Our goal is to ensure every patient receives the right care at the right time, in the right setting,” he said. “These ratings reflect not only where we are today, but also our commitment to continued growth and excellence.”
