Subaru Shares the Love Again in 2025

Once again, the Senior Nutrition Program at Humboldt Senior Resource Center (HSRC) is grateful for the generous support from McCrea Subaru in Eureka and Subaru of America. Their annual 2025 “Share the Love” promotion, with additional support from local Subaru buyers, raised $11,750 for HSRC’s senior nutrition services, including the Meals on Wheels Redwood Coast program for homebound older adults who are unable to cook or shop for themselves. Scott Chritton (left) and Charlie Alvord from McCrea Subaru recently presented the check to Tasha Romo, HSRC’s director of Nutrition & Activities. For more information regarding HSRC’s Senior Nutrition Program, call 707-443-9747 or visit humsenior.org.

I went to public school, had no religious education, but I’m prett...

It can be hard to believe that we have any power to change the course of climate change. Each time I get one of those soggy paper straws with my smoothie, I am reminded why we love plastic so much. How can it make any difference to use just one plastic straw? Maybe it cannot. But during this Plastic-Free July...

Aging is an Art — By John Heckel

As an elder Baby Boomer, I want and need to apologize. I could list the various generations, but let me simplify and address my apology to all current and future-not-yet-named-generations that are dealing with or will have to deal with the consequences of my actions or, more often, my lack of actions. I am so...
