Keep AT&T Landlines

To the Editor:

Many of us seniors, especially in this rural area that is so prone to power outages, depend on our landlines. In some areas that is the only reliable form of telephonic communication.

As you probably remember, AT& T made an effort a couple of years ago to get rid of its landlines, but had to pull back when confronted by thousands of angry Californians, many of whom were seniors who have lived with landlines all their lives and don’t want to have to learn a new technology at this point.

This is now going to the feds, and the best people to help are in Congress. Rep. Jared Huffman was particularly helpful last time, and now we need his assistance again. Please contact Rep. Huffman at https://huffman.house.gov/helping-you/help-with-a-federal-agency and ask for his help once again in defeating this proposal and keeping our landlines. It doesn’t hurt to remind him that he wants our votes.
